What a way to start the year ... enough snow and ice to keep us inside knitting and stitching for almost a week. We hope that you all fared well during the storm.

We heard that many of you were able to complete some beautiful projects. We’d love for you to stop by the shop so we can see them and take your photo! You can also share them with us via email or upload them on our Facebook page.

You’ll be happy to know that I used my snow time ordering yarn! We have lots of new arrivals in the shop and more arriving this week.

FREE Workshop to Get You Started!

Getting More out of Ravelry
with Mary - In this 30 minute workshop, Mary will show you how to use Tags and Tabs to get your favorites organized, upload photos to document your projects, search patterns to find just the right one quickly, and participate in Groups/Forums to share in the free online community. This session is complimentary for members of the Cast-on Cottage group on Ravelry.

You must have a Ravelry account (www.ravelry.com) to participate; however, if you are not a member yet Mary can help you join.

Seamless Sweater Workshops
Begins Sunday, February 13th
at 1:30 pm
Whether this is your first sweater, your first seamless sweater, or you're wanting a new challenge, Mary's Seamless Sweater Workshops will help you knit a seamless sweater that fits ... and requires minimal, if any, finishing. The Seamless Sweater gallery on our blog has several tried-and-true project suggestions if you're not sure which one to tackle. Mary will contact you before the first class to discuss your project, yarn selection, and gauge so you'll be ready to cast on when class begins.

Finishing ... Beginning to End with Jane
Begins Tuesday, February 1st, 10 am - 12 pm
We'll take the dread out of finishing! The class will include planning for finishing at the beginning of your project, cast ons, bind offs, several seams, picking up stitches for buttonbands, buttonholes, shaping, and blocking.

Bitty Bolero or BeTween Cardigan with Brandy
Begins Sunday, February 6th
at 1:30 pm
Brandy Fortune has had a very exciting fall! Her "BeTween Cardigan" was published by Spud & Chloe, and we are thrilled that she will teach this for us in February!

You may choose between Bitty Bolero and BeTween sizes. With Bitty Bolero (shown, right), it's quick knitting and a stashbuster as well. You will learn short rows and working a top down sweater for the baby. The BeTween Cardigan is a cropped top knit sideways with a mock cable.

Wendy’s mom was working on her Mountain Colors throw and stopped for a rest!

Wendy knit this beautiful blanket for her new great niece, Darya - born November 2nd. She used Blue Sky organic cotton with kid silk haze and some novelties.

Darya also received Ravelry’s rollin’ baby beret, which Wendy made from one ball of Louisa Harding’s angora.

Mary Bell Anders knit this sweater for her 13-year old grand-daughter Anne Marie. Both are lovely!
